Brahma Muhurtha Explained. How To Properly Use The Best Timing (Muhurtam) For Morning Rituals?
Accurate Timings To Start Morning Rituals As Per Ancient Texts?
Lots of people have many doubts about calculating Brahma Muhurtha. They think it's a fixed time. That's not true.
Every village/city/state/country has different time of sunrise as per their geographical conditions, and so the brahma muhurta is also different for them.
Online panchang and other astrological softwares/apps also give you different sunrise time as per your geographic location.
But the the real question is - how to know the accurate time of brahma mahurtha?
Because when you do different kinds of remedies such as Chanting, Yadnya, Homa, Pooja, etc or any such religious and spiritual activity, you need to begin it at particular time, the shubha muhurta.
If you know that specific time, then only you will be able to take the Sankalpa and start the remedy. As you know that there is no Siddhi without Sankalpa ( means you don't get any fruits of your remedies without taking proper oath at the specific time).
So how to find such specific time? When exactly Brahma Muhurta gets started? How much time before the sunrise? Let's see how to calculate this...

What Are Sadhe Teen Muhurta?
As per Hindu Calender, there are 3 and half special Muhurtas which are considered very auspicious. They are:
- Gudhi Padwa (Hindu New Year, Chaitra Shukla Pratipada)
- Akshay Tritiya
- Dusshera (Vijaya Dashmi)
These are 3 complete Muhurtas, and Diwali Padwa aka Kartik Shukla Pratipada is a half Muhurta. Like this, there are total Sadhe Teen Muhurtas (three and half) are there.
These Sadhe Teen Muhurtas are extremely auspicious. So like other normal days, we don't have to look in the Panchang to see which time of the day is auspicious. Because entire day is auspicious.
What Is Brahma Muhurta? How To Calculate It Accurately?
Brahma Muhurta is a period that begins approximately 2 hours before sunrise.
It is traditionally considered one of the most auspicious times for all practices of yoga, meditation, worship and all kinds of other religious activities. Spiritual activities performed early in the morning are said to have a greater effect than in any other part of the day.
So as per your local time, we can randomly consider that early morning 03 to 05 is the Brahma Muhurta.
After that, USHA KAAL starts. It runs for 36 minutes, from 05 to 05:36 am
After that, PRABHAT KAAL starts. It runs for 24 minutes, from 05:36 to 06 am
After that, ARUNODAYA starts. It runs for 6 minutes, from 06 to 06:06 am
And after that, finally, the Sun Rises.
Usha Kaal, Prabhat Kaal, Arunodaya and Suryodaya are different timings. Many people, including famous astrologers and spiritual gurus give the same morning sunrise Muhurta when you asked them about Auspicious Timings or Brahma Muhurta.
Many of you email me and ask, "When should I start chanting of this mantra japa? When to start certain ritual at my home? I did so and so pooja from one Pundit and still got no effect, Why? "etc, etc.
I hope you have gotten all of your answers in this post. Even if it's one morning, it has different smaller divisions as per ancient Indian texts. And we must find them and follow them accurately if we really want the results of our Karma. If you miss them and begin your ritual or chanting at the wrong timing, you won't get the desired results. Because sometimes Rashi and Nakshatra also gets changed during these times.
That's the study of Muhurtas is very important. To find a Muhurta is not an easy task. You have to study everything carefully and then you have to find the accurate Muhurta. That's what I do when you ask me for Muhurtas. Everything else is up to the God and my Gurus.
