Yes, forgiveness is only skill required to live in harmony with others. It’s a kind of spiritual act which releases yourself and others from carrying pain and move beyond your anger and resentment.

Forgiveness is noblest among all virtue and learning it is very important for our physical, mental, emotional and especially spiritual health. It’s not the incidents that give birth to the feeling of bitterness in your heart but in fact, it is created by your thoughts. 

We have to forgive others not because what they had done but for, who they are. They may be includes your friends, family member, neighbour, group, stranger etc. all of them deserve your mercy, your forbearance as a human being.
  • Forgiving others is sometimes becomes very hard, but it is essential if you want to be happy and receive God's forgiveness.
  • Forgiveness makes you strong. Weak can never forgive.
  • Forgive not for others but for yourself and remind that human being is allowed to make mistakes.

Forgiveness can be acquired by self-effort only, according to Mahabharata one should forgive under any injury, universe is held together by forgiveness only, it’s the might of mighty, it is sacrifice, peace of mind and it represent an eternal virtue.

We have to urge the forgiveness from the God by prayer. Prayer purifies our soul and give us strength to ‘Kshama’ or forbearance.

Some lines from Shiva Aparadha Kshamapana Stotra (Lord Shiva's Forgiveness) :-

"Whatever faults I may have committed by hand or foot, In word or deed, with my ears or eyes, mind or body, Knowingly or unknowingly - forgive me for them all, Victory unto Thee, O great Lord Shambhu, the Ocean of Compassion."

One can also Practice this Lord Ganesha Mantra to Manifest the Power of Forgiveness in you:
                                        “Om Kshamaa-BhartrÄ“ Namaha”
